  1. I wonder, for deep and/or PPR leagues, if Raheem Blackshear (RB-Carolina) may be a sneaky play this week, with Chuba Hubard declared out and the coaches talking up a continuation of a committee at the RB position.
  2. I wonder how many of us, back in August, were expecting the New York Giants v. Seattle Seahawks matchup to arguably be the game of the week in Week 8.  On the Seattle side, keep in mind that Travis Homer (RB) has been activated.  He may cut into the snaps of Kenneth Walker III (RB) and DeeJay Dallas (RB), though I am still playing Walker no matter what.  Marquise Goodwin (WR), if D. K. Metcalf (WR) sits, could be a sneaky play if you are desperate.  That said, I would go for New York’s Wan’Dale Robinson (WR) over Goodwin if Robinson is still available.
  3. I wonder when the last time we saw 3 games have a double digit spread (Chicago-Dallas, Pittsburgh-Philadelphia, and Green Bay-Buffalo).  I would be shocked if all three of those games were decided by double digits, especially the Chicago-Dallas game.  Dallas’s defense is legit, but how sure are we that the offense is actually good?
  4. I think Michael Carter (RB-NYJ) is actually a solid RB–he was one of the most elusive backs in 2021, according to PFF.  That said, it does not matter what I think.  It matters what the New York coaching staff thinks.  It seems some sort of committee with James Robinson (RB), who is no slouch himself, is imminent.  Carter needs a strong game against New England to make his case as the primary back in the committee.
  5. I wonder if George Pickens isn’t the most valuable fantasy wide receiver for Pittsburgh already.  If not, I think he will be for the remainder of the season.
  6. I wonder how we can continuously be crazy wrong about teams–see  Carolina’s victory over Tampa Bay, Washington’s win over Green Bay, and Chicago defeating New England all last week.  Which game will surprise us tomorrow? (I keep looking at that Chicago v. Dallas game.)
  7. I wonder how many targets Van Jefferson (WR-LAR), who was activated today off the IR, will receive against San Francisco?  I think it will be substantial, as long as he does not have any setbacks.
  8. I wonder if people realize how strong of a start a healthy Gabe Davis (WR-Buffalo) has had.  If you do not count Weeks 3 and 4, where he was clearly still hobbled by the ankle injury he suffered prior to Week 2 (which he missed), he is averaging 111 receiving yards and 1.3 TDs per game.  Green Bay’s secondary, on paper, is stout, but I could not fathom having Davis on my bench.
  9. I wonder who else will be traded before the November 1 Deadline.  Quite often, it is never the trade anyone sees coming.  Thus, I will make a random prediction:  Las Vegas trades Josh Jacobs (RB) to Buffalo.  Yes, it is far-fetched, but again, some trades, that no one predicted, do happen.
  10. I wonder, for those of you who play in IDP leagues, how Deion Jones (LB-Cleveland) will play Monday night.  With Jacob Phillips (LB) on the IR and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (LB) listed as Questionable, the assumption is that Jones will be on the field for almost all of the defensive plays.  That should give him a very high floor.
  11. And finally, I wonder if we are obsessed with the wrong question?  We often ask, “what is the meaning of life?”  Maybe, we really should be asking “where is the meaning of life?”  That way, we just have to locate it, and once we find it, then we will see what it is.
