The Good?

If you actually started Dante Pettis (WR), with his 84 yards and a TD (and almost a 2nd TD), then immediately go to a Casino or buy a lottery ticket.  Brian Robinson, Jr. (RB), with his 60 rushing yards and a TD, also proved to be decent play.  Justin Fields (QB) made some more progress in total yards, as he had his most of the season, with 190 yards passing and 88 yards rushing and a passing TD.

The Okay?

In PPR leagues, Darnell Mooney did okay, with 7 receptions for 68 yards–he did almost have a TD at the end of the game.  Khalil Herbert had 75 yards thanks to a big 64 yard run, and David Montgomery had 80 total yards (with 1 reception).

The Not Good!

Carson Wentz threw for 99 scoreless yards.  That is not a typo.  And of course, that means his pass catchers suffered, as Terry McLaurin (WR)–3 receptions for 41 yards and Curtis Samuel (WR)–2 receptions for 6 yards (though Samuel had a couple of drops, one being possible TD) did not do well.  Antonio Gibson (RB) compiled 53 total scoreless yards.  Cole Kmet had 1 catch for 15 yards.

Moving Forward?

As we look ahead, the reality is simple:  unless you are in a deeper league, the only players involved in this game that may be viewed as weekly starters or bye week fill-ins are maybe Terry McLaurin, Brian Robinson, Jr., and David Montgomery-sort of.  I do think there can be better games ahead for McLaurin.  I do think Robinson can be useful, and I am interested to see how he will look the further he is removed from his injury.  He is already outtouching Gibson (17 v 9 in this game).  I think it is a safe assumption that this trend will not only continue, but possibly become more sided in Robinson’s favor.  As for Montgomery, he is the preferred back for Chicago, as he outtouched Herbert 16 v 7.  It just seems like there is uncertainty there, and I would not be shocked if those percentages fluctuate at the expense of Montgomery from time to time.

As for Fields, Wentz, Gibson, Samuel, Mooney, Gibson, and Herbert, they should be on the bench or even on the waiver wire, unless you are in deeper or superflex leagues.  I get it if the BYE weeks forced you to play one of these guys, but moving forward, you really should check to make sure there is nothing on the waiver wire that offers more, or at least the same with more upside potential.

The reality here is that neither of these offenses are proving to be good.  And really, that is the point.  I think several of these players are solid (particularly Herbert and Mooney).  But, what is the upside here?  Herbert is merely a stash in case something happens to Montgomery.  However, even if that were to happen, because of this offense, his ceiling would still be limited compared to other back-up running backs that may be out there on the waiver wire in your league.  Fields may progress, which could help Mooney as the season continues, but that is a big question mark.

If you are still playing Cole Kmet (TE), I admire your loyalty.  But please, for your own mental health, just let him go.  Even with 190 passing yards from Fields, he was only the recipient of 15 of them.
