Reaction to Week 8: We are almost halfway done. Time flies when you are kicking butt. Am I right? So, this past week, I said to start Sam Howell and Jimmy Garoppolo at QB. Howell had 397 yards passing, 4 TDs, and a pick. I was sooooo right. Garoppolo, on the other hand, had 126 yards passing, 12 yards rushing, a pick, and no TDs. This was not only bad, making me wrong to start him, it was so bad it caused a real life benching too. On the RBs, I said to start Dameon Pierce and Breece Hall. Pierce had 46 rushing yards and no score. I was wrong to start him. Hall only had 17 yards rushing, but he had 76 receiving yards and a receiving TD; therefore, I was right to start him. For the WRs, I said to start Diontae Johnson and Zay Flowers. Johnson had 85 yards and no score. Just below average, thereby making me wrong to start him. Flowers was much worse with his 19 yards and no score, also making me wrong to start him. On the tight ends, I said to start Michael Mayer and Everett or Parham. Well, Everett did not start, so let’s look at Parham. He had 43 yards receiving and a TD making me right to start him. Mayer, however, had one catch for 19 yards and no TD, so I was wrong to start him. On the team defenses, I said to start the Texans and the Dolphins. The Texans gave up 15 points, lost the game, and got 6 sacks. These extras and the low score made me right to start them. The Dolphins got the W, held the Pats to 17 points, had 3 sacks and a pick. I was right to start them. Okay, let’s see what we think about our week 9 matchups.

Week 9:

QB:

Derek Carr: If you are gonna start him with confidence and not fear, this might be the week to do so. He has the Bears – a team that has given up the 2nd most passing TDs and yards. He could be as good as he once was for this game.

Mac Jones: He has the Commanders – a team who has given up the most passing TDs and are bottom 5 in yards allowed. The potential to shine brightly is there.

RB:

Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt: A double stuff here. These 2 have a Cards defense that is bottom 3 in all rushing categories. With Watson coming back, I wouldn’t be surprised if both get plenty of touches, rushing and receiving.

Jonathan Taylor and Zach Moss: So nice, let’s double stuff twice. These 2 have a Panthers D that is bottom 5 in ypc and have given up the 2nd most rushing TDs so far this season. While the opportunities will still be split, both should be able to produce here.

WR:

Demario Douglas: Who the hell is that? Why, that is the rookie wide receiver in New England. Here is your Hail Mary of the week. With Bourne out, the rookie has a chance to step up against that porous Commanders pass D. Career game?

Garret Wilson: If not a weekly starter, and I hope your team is not that bad where he has to be, this is a good week to put him in your lineup. The Chargers are bottom 3 in most all categories against the pass. Should be a productive game for him.

TE:

Jake Ferguson: Philly’s pass D has been their weakness so far this season. And while Ferguson has been up and down statistically this year, the opportunity to get some yards and be Dak’s safety blanket should be there.

Gerald Everett: I was right to start Parham last week and with Everett back, I am back to starting a Charger tight end. He has the Jets – a team that has a solid pass D, but it has not been against the tight end position, giving up the most TDs to tight ends so far this year. Opportunities should be there.

Defense:

Falcons: They are at home against a Vikings team without Cousins and Jefferson, no solid rushing attack, and a rookie at QB. All the signs say yes.

Colts: They have the Panthers this week – a team that is just not, well, good. The Colts should win on the road and get some stats. A good match up here this week.
