Reaction to Week 8: Almost halfway there. Almost living on a prayer. Not the same ring to it. Let’s see if my sitters were actually sitable. At QB, I said to sit Geno Smith and Matt Stafford. Smith had 254 yards passing, 2 TDs, and 2 picks. Just below average, making me right to sit him. Stafford had 162 yards passing, 1 TD, and a pick. Not even close. I was right to sit him too, At RB, I said to sit Brian Robinson, Jr. and Derrick Henry. Robinson had 59 yards rushing, 20 yards receiving, and no score. I was right to sit him. Henry had 101 yards rushing, 21 yards receiving, and no score. For some RBs that would work, but for Henry that is close. Let’s call this one a push. At wide-out, I said to sit Michael Pittman, Jr. and the Cards WRs. Pittman only had 40 yards receiving, but he got a score putting him over the threshold making me wrong to sit him. The top Cards WR was Hollywood Brown who had 33 yards receiving and a score. This is statistically average, so a push here. At tight end, I said to sit Trey McBride and both Pitts and Smith with Atlanta. Well, McBride was not Ertz; he was Ertz when Ertz used to be Ertz. He had 95 yards and a TD. I was wrong to sit him. In Atlanta, Pitts had 35 yards and Smith had 13 yards and neither got a TD. I was right to sit both of them. Bonus point. For team defenses, I said to sit the Bengals and Saints. The Bengals won, held San Fran to 17 points, had 2 picks, 2 sacks and a fumble recovery. I was wrong to sit them. The Saints also got the W, but the Colts got 27 points against them along with the Saints 2 sacks and a pick. These extras put the Saints back over the top making me wrong to sit them. Alright, let’s get into week 9 and see who I think will be a load of stink.
Week 9:
QB:
Geno Smith: I was right to sit him last week, and I will be right to sit him this week. He has the Ravens and their top flight D.
Baker Mayfield: He has the Texans, who, suprisingly, have actually given up the least amount of passing TDs so far this year. Since Baker will not explode in yardage, this does not add up to a good statistical game for him.
RB:
Tony Pollard: Derrick Henry last week, and Tony Pollard this week. I ain’t scared. The Eagles run D has been tremendous. You better hope for lots of check downs by Dak if you keep him in your lineup.
Gus Edwards: He is this week’s back to life, back to reality candidate. He is going up against a Seahawks D that is top 10 in most rushing categories.
WR:
Devonta Smith: If I am going to sit a Cowboy stud, how about I double down and sit an Eagle stud. The Cowboys have a solid passing defense, and I will assume Brown will keep getting his. So, someone will get left out. I say it will be Smith.
Kenan Allen: Man, I am sitting some quality starters this week because I am also saying to sit Kenan Allen too. He has a tough matchup against the Jets. I say they keep him doubled and make Hebert beat them with the rest of their wide outs.
TE:
Trey McBride: Don’t do it. Don’t do it. He will not be as good as he was last week. This week he has the Browns, a team who has given up the least amount of passing yards per game. Don’t do it.
Dalton Schultz: He is coming off a game where he had a total of 5 yards and no score. And this week, he has a Bucs team who has only given up 1 TD to a tight end so far. You know what that means?
Defense:
Chiefs: They have been solid this year. They have a big game against Miami, but they are only a one and a half point favorite. They did just lose to Denver too. Upset alert? Back to back losses?
Jets: They are a home underdog to the Chargers. The Jet’s D is good, but the Chargers can produce. Not sure the Jets have enough on the offensive end to be worth the risk of victory.
