Reaction to Week 7: How lucky was your No. 7? Did your starters start you up? Did I do well? Let’s see. First of all, at QB, I said to start Baker Mayfield and Matt Stafford. In his game, Stafford had 154 yards passing and a pick. I was quite wrong to start him. Mayfield, however, had 370 yards passing, 22 yards rushing, 3 TDs, and 2 picks. Good enough. I was right to start him. I said to start Brian Robinson, Jr. and DeVon Achane at RB. Robinson had 71 yards rushing and a TD. I was right to start him. Achane had 77 yards rushing, 8 yards receiving, and nothing else. Just under, so I was wrong to start him. At wideout, I said to start Tyreek Hill and Zay Flowers. How can the Dolphins only target Hill 2 times in a whole game? Well, all he had was 1 catch for 8 yards so I was wrong to start him. Flowers only had 11 yards receiving, 19 yards rushing, and nothing else. I was wrong to start him too. At tight end, I said to start David Njoku and Kyle Pitts. Njoku had 76 yards receiving and a score. I was right to start him. Pitts had 65 yards and nothing else. For the position, enough to say I was right to start him. For the team defenses, I said to start the Commanders and the Jaguars. The Commanders won, held the Panthers to 7 points, along with 2 sacks and 2 picks. I was right to start them. The Jaguars also got the W, held the Pats to 16 points, along with 2 sacks. I was right to start them as well. Some good. Some bad. Some eh. Let’s get into Week 8 now.
QB:
Kirk Cousins: He put up serious numbers the last time they played Tampa, who also just gave up some serious stats to Lamar Jackson. Maybe not 500 yards this time, but he still should have a solid game.
Justin Herbert: His passing yardage has increased the last couple of weeks, and this weekend he has a weak and vulnerable Saints passing D that is bottom 5 in passing yards allowed. Great matchup.
RB:
J. K. Dobbins: Let’s keep it in L A and play Dobbins against the Saints too. The Saints rush D is just as bad, if not worse than their passing D. So far this season, they give up the largest yard per carry in the league to running backs.
Javonte Williams: I was right the last time I told you to play him, and I will be right again this time too. He is going up against the worst team in the league against the run in Carolina; they have given up the most yards and rushing TDs so far.
WR:
Courtland Sutton: Let’s keep it in Denver and play Sutton too against Carolina. While Sutton did get blanked last week, the Carolina pass D is a much more favorable matchup than he just had. Play him if in a bind.
Stefon Diggs: Not counting his game against the Packers last week, he has had solid yardage the weeks prior. He might not get 2 TDs against the Colts like he did earlier in the year, but he should have a solid output for the day.
TE:
Kyle Pitts: Keep him starting. He has a Tampa team that allowed him 88 yards a couple of weeks ago and just allowed Mark Andrews to look like his old self last week.
Tucker Kraft: Hunter Henry just put up over 90 yards against the Jags. Their secondary is not good, and they are bad against this position. Good matchup for Kraft.
D:
Jets: They have the lowly Pats this week, so they are the team whose D should do very well. It will be like an exhibition game before they play real teams again.
Bengals: They have done well the last 2 weeks, but they are going up against a very capable offense in Philly this week. This is a home game for Cincy, but I’d be comfortable with a different team defense, if I had an option to do so. If not, hope they get plenty of extras and show up.
