Before we get into Week 8’s Starters, let’s see what i got right and what i got wrong with the starters from week 7.
QB: What did I say about Matt Ryan? I said boom or bust. I guess my boom was a bust. I need to get the doc to check that out. Jimmy G had over 300 yards with 2 TDS and 2 TOs. This is above average which makes me right. Meanwhile, Tua was below average so that makes me a little bit wrong about him.
RB: Looks like i was wrong about Drake taking over in Ball More. Gus. Gus. Gus. Pollard had 83 rushing yards and 26 receiving and Elliot had 57 yards with 2 TDS. Told you both would do well. And regarding Kenneth Walker, I was of course right about him too, but I feel I need to officially take him off the start list. He should be starting every week for you.
WR: Um, it looks like Gallup was not just a bad option, he was a horrible option. Is he even still the #2 there? I was right about Aiyuk though. While he didn’t get a TD, he had 82 yards and outgained Deebo like I said he would. And back to being wrong, with only 42 yards receiving, i was wrong about Diontae Johnson.
TE: 48 yards for Hurst. I mean, not good, but not bad for his tier of tight ends either. Let’s call this one a push. Looks like I was wrong about Parham since he didn’t even play, but i was right about Everett. Even when both are healthy, I think the latter will be more consistent throughout the year. I was also wrong about Gesicki too. I don’t think Tua likes tight ends very much.
D: A win, 3 sacks, and less than 20 points allowed = I was right about playing the Bengals D this week. A win, 2 fumble recoveries, and 5 sacks = I was right about playing the Ravens D too. Then, holy mother of all, who would have seen the Bears offensive performance and the whipping of New England? I, and the entire world, was wrong here.
It’s a mini Bye Week. Time to figure who is left and available to possibly put in your starting lineup for this week.
QB:
Kirk Cousins: If he is your starter feel good about this week’s matchup. If not, and he is your backup or available on waivers, feel good here too. But knowing him, he will probably screw it up.
Winston/Dalton: Up in the air who will start at this point, but either one will have a good matchup this week against the Raiders. If you need a sub, you should go here. But knowing them, they will probably screw it up.
Davis Mills: He is going up against a Tennessee team that has given up the 2nd most passing yards so far this year. Two 300 yard passing games in a row for him? Don’t screw it up.
RB:
Raheem Mostert: I think we may officially have a consistent starter in Miami. This week he has a matchup with the Lions who have given up the 2nd most rushing TDs in the league so far.
Joe Mixon: For some, you have stuck with him, but for those of you who have benched him, he has a good matchup against the Browns who have given up the most rushing TDs so far this season.
Brian Robinson, Jr.: He is being acclimated back after his unfortunate incident. I say he strikes gold and he will either go over 100 yds and/or score against Indy this week.
WR:
Devonta Smith: If he is not a regular for you, you want to consider him against the Steelers this week. Pitt does worse against slot and fast guys. He may even outdo Brown this week against them.
D. J. Moore: Thanks to the benching of Baker, he might be fantasy relevant again. We will see, but this week is a safe play for him against the worst passing D in the league.
Wan’Dale Robinson: Has anybody else said what I am about to say? Maybe, probably, but just in case, you read it here first. He will be the Giants first 100 yard receiver of the year, and it will only take them 8 games to do it. Whoo Hoo.
TE:
The Cards are next to last in the league against tight ends this year. This week they go up against Irv Smith. He will probably not get you many yards, but at least a TD should be there.
Taysom Hill: He is a risky play each week, but he should have opportunities to shine against the Raiders. If available and you need, Juwan Johnson is not a bad play here either.
Gesicki: A local regular on the start sit lists. He is in the top 10 for boom or bust candidate of the year. Last week he was a bust. I say a boom this week against the Lions even with Tua throwing the rock.
D:
The Seattle D has been playing well of recent. Since the Giants are not an explosive offense, they have a chance to keep playing well.
Like Seattle, the Dolphins D started off slowly but have been playing well of recent. This week they have a matchup against a Lions team that has been sputtering of recent. Use the transitive property to find your answer.
The Jaguars play well in London, their new home. I say it will be a pitcher’s duel between them and the Broncos. I say roll with the Jags to sneak this one out. It might even be a field goal battle, and if that happens, the Brits will be ecstatic.
