Before we get into Week 8’s Sitters, let’s see what i got right and what i got wrong with the sitters from week 7.
QB: 228 yards with no TDs and 2 INTs – yeah, I was right to sit Goff. I also told you to sit Wentz. Well, i was right here too since he didn’t even play. Muah hahahaha. And thanks to Jacobs hogging the TDs, Carr was below average making me right about him too. Boom goes the dynamite.
RB: One run for 62 yards that resulted in a TD, then mediocre before getting hurt. Usually, when guys get hurt, the result is not too good, but Breece Hall’s fluke of a TD before the injury salvaged the day for those of you who did not listen to me. Speaking of being wrong because of a fluke TD, i was ultimately wrong about CEH too. He had no catches and 32 yards rushing, but he had that TD putting him slightly, slightly above average. Ugh. In that same game, i told you to sit Jeff Wilson. Well, i was right for several reasons, but still right so that is what matters.
WR: Looks like i was wrong about Hopkins. There was no easing him into the game. He got almost half of the targets. Greedy. Greedy. Greedy. I was also wrong about McLaurin. I blame this on Wentz for not playing. Not my fault. I was right though about trying to figure out which New England WR to play. You just never know.
TE: 48 yards with no TD is slightly below average so that makes me right to sit the Hock. Do his friends call him that, or just his family? 22 yards with no TD makes me more right about sitting the Conk. Do his friends and his family call him that? Meanwhile, Hunter Henry did even worse with only 12 yards so it looks like i was right all around to include the Hun too. Does his family call him that, or just his friends?
D: I was kind of right about trying to figure out who to start in the Saints/Cards game. For those of you who chose the Cards, you were right, and i was wrong. For those of you who chose the Saints, you were wrong, and i was right. Which means, you guessed it, if you chose the Titans D to play, you were right, and i was wrong, but if you chose the Colts, I was right, and you were wrong. Ha Ha Ha. Finally, I told you, in a round-a-bout, or circular way, if you are familiar with roundabouts, to sit the 49ers D. They got smoked. I hope you had the gumption to sit them.
With only 2 teams out, it is a mini Bye Week. With that out of the way, let’s see who is available to maybe consider not starting or benching this week regardless.
QB:
Dak: He did not do much in his first game back, and he is going up against a Bears D that is better against the pass than the run. Wait for it. Wait for it.
Trevo: The Broncos D has only given up 3 passing TDs all year. Not the kind of stat I want to see to feel confident when playing my QB. So, sit him.
Tannehill: And surprisingly, The Texans have given up the 2nd fewest passing TDs so far this year. Expect lots of Derrick Henry.
RB:
David Montgomery: The Cowboys D has been consistently good so far this year. They have only given up 2 rushing TDs all year. Hope you don’t need to play him.
Najee Harris: He has been here before and, honestly, based on his pre-season expectations, i could put him here every week but that would be lazy. I just wanted to remind you to keep benching him.
Darrell Henderson: I still don’t buy him as a #1 RB. Plus, he is playing the 49ers this week, so i expect even less of him.
WR:
Since i am benching Trevo, I feel it is only fair to bench Kirk too. Expect low numbers in this kicker’s duel.
I was right to start Aiyuk last week, and i will be equally right to bench him this week against the Rams D.
George Pickens: Philly’s D is #1 against the pass. I say the eagles D give the rook his respect, and they focus on him letting Johnson and Claypool have better stats this game.
TE:
Since I am benching Dak, I feel it is only fair to bench Shultz too. As previously noted, the Bears D is better against the pass than the run. Plus, Shultz hasn’t proven his weekly starter status yet this year.
Waller/Moreau: Not sure if Waller will start, but whichever of these 2 starts, bench him. The Saints have been good against tight ends so far this year.
Kittle: The Rams are the best in the league against TEs. It is not like he is tearing up the league anyway. Don’t be afraid. You can do it. Do it.
D:
Saints: Their offense has been a bit off and on this year. The Raiders have some weapons. This could be a whipping or a slugfest. I wouldn’t trust the Saints D in this match-up.
Packers: Their D has been good this year, but they are going up against the Bills, whose D is bigger and better than the Packs.
Browns: Like the pack, the Brown’s D has been good so far this year too, but they are also going up against a good offense. An offense that is hot. The Bengals will char the Browns this week.
