Reaction to Week 6: Another Thursday, another divisional game. In that one, I offered 3 things: 1.) I noted Brock Purdy should have a solid game; 2.) Kenneth Walker would also be a good start with a bounce back game; and 3.) The 49ers defense has been good against a team’s #1 wideout, so I said to sit D. K. Metcalf. Well, Purdy had 255 yards passing, 19 yards rushing, and 3 TDs. Point 1 – I was right. Walker had 32 yards rushing, 37 yards receiving, and a TD. While I would not consider that a bounce back game, it was just enough. Point 2 – I was right. And Metcalf, well he ended up with 48 yards receiving and nothing else. Point 3 – I was right. A clean sweep. Damn it feels good to be a (fantasy football) gangster.
Week 7 pits the Broncos and the Saints. While we finally have a non-division battle on a Thursday night, the NFL is offering us another grudge match, Sean Payton and his Broncos against the former Sean Payton’s Saints. The Saints have been all over the place, and currently sitting at the bottom in team defense. And while Javonte Williams has not been exactly tearing it up, this is a good matchup for him. Maybe the best one he will have all year. On the other side, the Broncos D has been solid, and I expect more of that in this game too. With that being noted, I would not take a gamble on the rookie replacement Spencer Rattler, and I would be good starting the Broncos D here in this game too. Bonus picks: I feel like both kickers will get plenty of opportunities, and with it being in a dome, stats could be there for both.
