Reaction to Week 5: What a weird statistically chaotic game that was. I was right about Mayfield as a start with his 3 TDs, but who in the wide wide world of sports would have thought Cousins would do what he did. I was wrong to sit him, obviously. Since the game was an air assault on both ends, I was wrong to start Robinson, but I was right to bench both Irving and White. On the wide outs, I was right to start Evans who had 2 scores, wrong to start Godwin, and wrong to sit both London and Mooney, who were the key beneficiaries of Cousins out of his mind play. The NFL is weird like that; absurd like that; and unpredictable like that. SMH.

Week 6 brings us to Seattle where the Hawks play host to the 49ers. Both teams are coming off disappointing losses, and both teams really need this game in their W column. Both of them have been middle of the pack across the board in their defensive prowesses. However, I do think Brock Purdy is still a solid play against the Hawks pass D. On the other side, Kenneth Walker could have a bounce back game; the 49ers have not been as good against the run as they used to be. Finally, the 49ers have been a little bit better against a team’s #1 wide out, so I would bench Metcalf in this game.
