Reaction to Week 5: Week 5 is over, and the guys who need to be sat are either weekly sits or match up dependent at this point. They are who we think they are. Let’s see how my sitters fared this past week. First of all, at QB, I said to sit Sam Darnold and Patrick Mahomes. Darnold had 179 yards passing, 11 yards rushing, and 2 TOs. I was right to sit him. Mahomes ended up with 331 yards passing, 22 yards rushing, and a TO. I was right to sit him too. Did you do it? At RB, I said to sit Zack Moss and Breece Hall. Moss had 24 yards rushing, 28 yards receiving, and nothing else. I was right to sit him. Hall ended up with 23 yards rushing, 14 yards receiving, and also nothing else. Makes me right to sit him too. At wide out, I said to sit Dontayvion Wicks and Jakobi Meyers. Wicks had 20 yards receiving and nothing else making me right to sit him, while Meyers had 72 yards receiving and also nothing else. Just under his projections so I was right to sit him too. For tight end, I said to sit Zach Ertz and Pat Freiermuth. Ertz had 10 yards receiving and nothing else, while the Moooooth had 22 yards receiving, a TD, and a turnover. I was right to sit both of them. For the team defenses, I said to sit the Jets and the Browns. The Jets lost, gave up 23 points, along with a recovered fumble, a pick, and 4 sacks. The extras make this one close; let’s call it a push. The Browns also lost, gave up 31 points, along with a fumble recovery, 3 sacks, and a pick. Not quite there; I was right to sit them. Not too shabby. Let’s see if I can do just as well for week 6.
QB:
Trevor Lawrence: The Bears pass D is top 3 in the league, and he has been inconsistent. Not a good match up to keep his stats up.
Justin Herbert: Is it him, or is it Harbaugh? He is just not the same as we have been used to, and this week he has a stingy Broncos pass D to contend with.
RB:
Chuba Hubbard: He has been good the last 3 weeks, but he has a top 5 rush D in Atlanta this week. Not a good matchup.
Javonte Williams: He is going up against a top 3 rush D in the Chargers this week. For a mediocre RB statistically, also not a good matchup.
WR:
Christian Kirk: As noted, the Bears have a solid pass D. I think Thomas will get more chances to get some stats, while the Bears defense will limit Kirk’s, which will cause him to suffer.
Josh Downs: Even without Pittman, this is not a good matchup against the #1 pass D in the league so far.
TE:
Dalton Kincaid: He hasn’t shone us much this year, and this week he is going up against a top 3 pass D in the Jets. No thanks.
Dallas Goedert: With Brown and Smith both back this week, I expect his numbers to go back to what they were before – below average.
D:
Cowboys: Their D has been good the last 2 weeks, but they are going up against a more talented offense than what their previous 2 opponents have in the likes of Detroit.
Browns: Another road loss is on the horizon for them as the Eagles are getting Brown and Smith back this week. How unfortunate for the Browns. The game might be close, but the Browns offense cannot produce, and this D will wear down and give up just enough.
