Before we get into Week 6’s Sitters, let’s see what I got right and what I got wrong with the sitters from week 5.

QB: Pew. Pew. I was right about sitting Murray. Another average to below average game for him. I am sorry to say that I was right again to sit Stafford. He got 300 yards, but only 1 TD and 3 turnovers. Then there is Baker. Poor Baker. He got whipped. I was right, right there too.

RB: I was right about double upping on the Cards and Rams. I was right telling you to sit Conner and Akers. Neither did anything. Regarding J. K., oh wait, i was right here too. I hope you benched him and did not drink his kool-aid.

WR: I was right about keeping the preseason overhyped D. J. Moore on the bench. I was close to being right about Lazard, too, but he got him a little TD baby to hold, so that puts him just over the edge making me wrong. Meanwhile, regarding the KC wide receivers, not good, not bad, not consistent, not worth the risk. I was not not right here too.

TE: I couldn’t have been Mo right about keeping Allie-Cox on the bench. And I was just as right about benching Mr. TD dependent Dissly. Regarding Higbee, I was mostly right about him: less than 50 yds with no TD. Rights for everyone.

D: I was extremely right about sitting the Steelers D. I did not watch the game. Was it as ugly as the score? Saints got a win, 3 sacks and a fumble recovery. But they gave up points and yards. Can we call it a push? Please? Okay. Thanks. Then there are the Giants. I guess I have to stop picking on them. They might be for real. While they did get the W, they did not get much extra, but it was better than average making me wrong-ish.

It’s Bye Week Season! It’s Bye Week Season! With that out of the way, let’s see who is available to maybe consider not starting or benching this week regardless.

QB:

Kenny! Kenny! He may get some stats. But he will be hard pressed for no turnovers or wins while learning. Until that happens, especially against a solid D in Tampa, not worth the risk.

Rodgers! Rodgers! You probably aren’t going to bench him, especially on a bye week, but maybe, just maybe, there are better options, or you were smart and drafted a solid backup who has a plus matchup. The Pack are running more than passing, and the Jets are statistically better against the pass.

Carson Wentz is up and down, mostly up statistically. He is also going up against a team in Chicago that is better against the pass than the run. If you can, bench him this week, too.

RB:

Double up – Ugh Ugh. Are you still playing Najee? I have benched him and so should you. They say it is the O line, but his back up Jaylen Warren looks better. He is just not explosive right now. I am not trusting him.

I should have benched James Robinson last week. One week too late? I am putting him back on the bench against a solid Indy D.

Falcons RBs – I think Marriota leads them in rushing again this week.

WR:

Double up – Ugh Ugh. You thought i was going Steeler here, didn’t you? That would have been a triple up. The double up here is in Washington. I say McLaurin gets shut down by the Bears.

Like Rodgers, you are probably not benching Lamb, but if you have depth, it makes sense. Philly shut down Jefferson, and the same tactics will probably be applied to Lamb in this game.

Jets WRS – Not one of these guys stands out, at least not consistently, and the Pats have been solid against the pass so far this year. I am not sure any one of them goes over 75 yards, and if one does, it really could be any one of 3 guys.

TE:

Hunter Henry: He has not been very consistent, and he is going against a Browns Defense that has done well against TEs.

Conklin: He has been good(ish), but he has not been consistent enough to play him each week. He is match-up dependent, and the Pats are not a good match-up.

Higbee: Like some others before him, you are probably not benching him since he has been pretty consistently above average. If you have depth, hopefully your other TE has a better matchup. If not, temper your expectations.

D:

The Giants D has been surprisingly good so far this year. However, this week they are going up against the Ravens and a quarterback who is very statty. This feels like a tough match up for them.

I am keeping the Steelers D as a sitter. I would write another word, if this wasn’t such a family friendly website. I have no trust in them at the moment, especially against Brady, a QB that has traditionally owned them.

Bills: Did you see the pattern here? LIke some of its forefathers, I am sure you are not benching the Bills D, even though they are going up against the Chiefs. This game has the potential to be offensively offensive for some of us.
