Before we get into Week 4’s Sitters, let’s see what i got right and what i got wrong with the sitters from week 3.
QB: I was right about sitting Wentz and Fields (The latter was kind of an easy call. I feel a little bad for even including it.) Then there is the old State Farmer, the Nicholas Cage wanna be. He actually played above average, so i will take it as a wrong, barely though.
RB: I was right all around here. Still no RB from the Ravens or Jets that you can count on on a weekly basis. 58 yards and no TD – i was right about San Fran limiting Williams.
WR: Regarding Steelers WRs, Johnson had the better stats and will at this point in the season, but it still wasn’t something to call home about. (Speaking of that, call a relative just to say hi. You pick. It doesn’t matter. Go ahead. I will wait.) Then there are the Bucs and Packers WRs. Gage proved to be the Bucs man, but you can’t count on him next week, or most weeks. And the pack, well who knows with this group. Maybe the rookie will become the man, but until then, i will count these mostly right, with a dash of wrong.
TE: Hooper – 19 yards = Ugh. Okwuegbuname – 12 yards = Ugh. Ugh. Gesicki – 6 yards = Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. In the words of the great Dave Chapelle, “You hate to see it. But more than that. You love to see it.” This is probably the most right i will be all year.
D: I was wrong about the Colts and the Jags. I still have no idea what happened in these 2 games. Somebody must have taken some crazy pills. The only solace I can take is the Lions were close enough to give me a partial right, since they lost the game and only had 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery. I’ll take this tiny victory.
With that out of the way, let’s get into this week’s games and who you should, maybe consider not starting or benching this week
QB:
Stafford: Back on the bench again for him against the 49ers defense.
Lawrence: He hasn’t been bad, but now he faces the Eagles D. If he can survive this week, he might prove to be a solid play, or maybe a semi-solid one.
Cousins: I am also putting him back on the bench. He should have lit up Detroit and now he is going up against a better D in New Orleans. Oh wait, the game is not in New Orleans, but in London. Hmm. Nah, I will keep him here.
RB:
Akers: He did well this past week, but have i mentioned that San Fran has a pretty good defense. He goes back to the bench with Stafford.
James Robinson: He has done well, but this will probably be his worst game of the year so far. He goes to the bench with Trevo for me.
Miles Sanders: He has been the main running back in Philly, but this week he goes against a Jags D that has done well against the run. Plus, he has lots of cheap TDs stolen from him. If he was on my team, that would Hurt(s). You see what I did there?
WR:
Christian Kirk: He has done really well, and you might should play him just because he will get the looks, but, especially if Darius Slay plays, you might want to consider benching him against the Eagles D.
Giants WRS: In week 1, their top WR got 71 yards. In week 2, their top WR got 51 yards. And in week 3, their top WR got 49 yards. You see the pattern here? With Shepard now hurt, i would not be surprised if Barkley leads the team in both rushing and receiving yards this week.
Bears WRS: In week 1, their top WR got 51 yards. In week 2, their top WR got 39 yards. And in week 3, their top WR got 40 yards. And you thought things were bad in New York. See, it could be worse; it could be Chicago worse. Like Barkley, a RB will probably also lead this team in both rushing and receiving yards this week.
TE:
Higbee: If you have a good back-up or one with a good matchup, consider benching Higbee against San Fran. He will probably not get the yards, but maybe a TD to save your day, but don’t count on it.
Freiermuth: On most days, i would start him, but statistically, the Jets have been pretty good against tight ends so far this year.
Ertz: See Freiermuth, except replace the word Jets with the word Panthers.
D:
Ravens: They are still giving up too many yards in the secondary and now they are going up against one of the most potent offenses in Buffalo. Danger. Danger. Danger.
Jags: Their defense played well against a banged up Herbert. But now they are going up against a highly mobile and accurate Hurts. The outcome will not be the same.
Seattle: The Lions offense is in the top 3 in scoring. The Seahawks are looking at getting punched in the mouth by Jared Goff and Jamaal Williams. That was so weird to type.
