Reaction to Week 1: Looks like both the KC and Detroit offenses were a little bit rusty, so I was wrong about not playing the Lions D since they got a W, held KC to 20 points, and got a pick 6. On the other side, the Chiefs D got the L, gave up 21 points and gathered only one sack and a fumble recovery. It is close, but not good enough for a starting D; therefore, I was right not to start the Chiefs D. Besides the 2 defenses, I said to also sit Gibbs. With only 42 yards rushing, 18 yards receiving and no TD, I was right to sit him for his first game. I was also right to start his teammate St. Brown. While not stellar, 71 yards and a TD are above average, thereby making me right. Back to being wrong – my flyer choice got shot down out of the Skyy. He had 4 yards rushing and no catches, not even close. Considering the group’s collective output, it is pretty safe to say you should probably not start any KC receiver not named Kelce.

The second Thursday night game of the season pits the Eagles and the Vikings. You are going to play all the players you would normally play this week, no questions asked. So, let’s see if there are any borderline starters or bench guys to start or sit.

If Kirk Cousins is not a regular for you, but part of a platoon or a bench option, this is one game to consider playing him. The Eagles D just gave up over 300 yards and 2 touchdowns to Mac Jones. Until they show us they are more like last year’s D, they may be played upon.

Keeping with the Vikings, you should put Mattison on the bench. He got a receiving TD last week but only 34 yards rushing. You need a starting RB to produce more yardage than that in order to count on them for fantasy starter status. Plus, the Eagles D did better against the Pats rush than they did in the air.

On the Eagles side, I feel the running game could vary week to week on who gets the most yards. Since Gainwell has been ruled out for the game. Swift should have his turn this week, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Boston Scott and/or/ Rashaad Penny get some shots. And, well, if they look good, they will probably get more. Bottom line, do not play any of them until this gets hashed out.

I also would not start Goedert either. He is a top TE, but he only had 1 target this past week. Is it an anomaly, or will he have ups and downs this year? If you have options, I would reach for those. If not, cross your eyes, ears, and toes and hope that he makes up for last game.

Alright, good luck and may the bird of paradise fly up your nose.
