Reaction to Week 1: Did my guys shine? Did you shine? Do you still have a chance with it all? Let’s see how we did on Week 1. At QB, I said to start Matt Stafford and Baker Mayfield. Stafford had 317 yards passing, 1 TD, and 1 pick. Just below projections, so I was not quite right to start him. Baker, however, had 289 yards passing with 4 TDs and no TOs. I was quite right here. At RB, I said to start James Cook and Joe Mixon. Cook had 71 yards rushing, 32 yards passing, and no scores. (Damn you selfish Josh Allen.) Also just below projections making me wrong to start him. Mixon, however, had 159 yards rushing, 19 yards receiving, and a TD so I was right to start him. At wide out, I said to start Drake London and Chris Godwin. London was abysmal with 15 yards and nothing else making me wrong to start him. Godwin had 83 yards receiving and a TD. I was right to start him. At TE, I said to start Trey McBride and Hunter Henry. McBride had 30 yards receiving with no score, while Henry was even worse with 18 yards receiving and no score. I was wrong to start both of them. For team defenses, I said to start the Falcons and the Bengals. The Falcons only gave up 18 points, but they lost and got only 2 sacks as extras. I was wrong to start them. The Bengals also lost; they gave up only 16 points; and they got only a single sack as extra. I was wrong here too. A victory by both teams would have pushed them over the edge to the start side. I digress. Now that we have seen this, let us focus on week 2 and see who we should start that will bring us to fantasy glory.
QB:
Brock Purdy: He did not do much statistically in Week 1, so that means he is due, right? I say another solid game by him, but this time, he gets a TD or more.
Deshaun Watson: This will be a turn around game for him as he faces the Jags, a team that gave up over 300 yards to Tua last week. Plus, he is dealing with some off the field matters; the signs are there.
RB:
James Conner: He will not have a tremendous amount of yards, but he will get enough along with another score, or more. High floor. Low ceiling.
J. K. Dobbins: Was last week a fluke? He has a Carolina team that gave up some serious rushing yards to Saints running backs last week. Unless Harbaugh pulls a Harbough, the chances will be there to duplicate.
WR:
Brandon Aiyuk: I was right to sit him last week, and I will be just as right to start him this one. San Fran will try and get him to stat up so his lack of production in game one does not become an issue.
Malik Nabers: He has the Commanders this week, a team who got torched by Baker Mayfield in week 1. He had solid yards for his 1st game, and I say he will get his 1st TD of the year, and possibly be over a 100 yards too, against the Washington football team.
TE:
Brock Bowers: Speaking of rookies who had a solid first game. While the Ravens have a solid D, they did their worst against the TE position in Week 1. With WRs being shut down, he could be their passing game, even if just in garbage time.
Tucker Kraft: When your QB does not throw much or downfield, the tight end usually leads the team in receiving. While there may not be many yards for him, a fluke TD pass could be on the horizon here.
D:
Steelers: They traditionally do well against rookie QBs, and the way they played against Cousins and Atlanta, they may prove to be a weekly play regardless of the match up. Let’s see.
Chargers: They played well in week 1, and they have a weak Panthers offense this week. The signs are there for them to have a solid day.
