Reaction to Week 1: Week 1 is under our belt, and some of our hopes and dreams are already shot. Hopefully, you are not one of them, and my sit advice last week helped with that. I started last week’s sit column in the Dallas/Cleveland game. I said to sit both Dak and Deshaun at QB. Prescott had 179 yards passing and only a single passing TD, while Watson had 189 yards passing, 39 yards rushing, and a single passing TD, along with 2 TOs. I was right to sit both of them. At RB, I said to sit James Conner and both Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson, Jr. in Washington. Well, Conner only had 50 yards rushing, but he also got 33 yards receiving and a TD making me wrong to sit him. For Washington, Robinson had 40 yards rushing, 49 yards receiving, and a TD, while Ekeler had 10 yards rushing, 50 yards receiving and no TD. I was wrong to sit Robinson but right to sit Ekeler – a push here. For the wide outs, I said to sit Stefon Diggs and Brandon Aiyuk. Diggs had only 33 yards receiving, but he got the red zone looks and ended up with 2 TDs. While I was wrong to sit him in this game, if his yardage total is representative of the season, he will be TD dependent and that is nothing I want to bank on. Aiyuk ended up with only 28 yards receiving and no TD, so I was right to sit him. At TE, I said to sit both TEs in the Dallas/Cleveland game – Ferguson and Njoku. Ferguson ended up with 15 yards receiving and nothing else, while Njoku ended up with 44 yards and nothing else. I was right to sit both of them. For the team defenses, I said to sit both the Bills and the Titans. While the Bills gave up 28 points, they got the W, along with 4 sacks and a fumble recovery. Just enough to make me wrong to sit them. The Titans gave up less points, 24, but they got the L along with 2 sacks and also a fumble recovery. I was right to sit them. Both were close, but the W and L pushed each one over making one a start and the other a sit.

Alright, now that the housekeeping is done, let’s get into Week’s 2 sitters.

QB:

Joe Burrow: Until he has both Chase and Higgins available with a viable running game, he is a week to week play. Against the Chiefs, a solid D, I say no play.

Aaron Rodgers: He goes from a top D in San Fran to a team whose D had the best game in Week 1, statistically speaking, in Tennessee. LIke Burrow, Rodgers may be looking at a week to week play, and this week is a no go for him too.

RB:

Travis Etienne, Jr.: He lost lots of play to Bigbsy in Week 1. Looking at that, and the fact they are going up against a solid Browns D, this is not a gamble worth taking.

Dallas RBs: Until either Elliott or Dowdle breaks away from the other, I would not play either one this week against a Saints D that did what they did last week against Carolina.

WR:

Stefon Diggs: Let’s try this again. I say his yardage stays low again, but this time, he does not get the TDs like he did last week. No deja vu here.

Packers WRs: Until Jordan Love comes back, or Malik Willis proves he can throw more than 100 yards in a game (his highest ever is 99), no WR on this team is a safe bet.

TE:

Evan Engram: Cleveland has been, and is still stellar against this position. Not a match up I would count on. Probably like last week, but that is not good enough.

Dallas Goedert: With Barkley showing he can run it in from short yardage, the red zone opportunities may be limited for him this year. Without this, no way can one count on him to have the yardage to supplement.

D:

Saints: They have a tougher matchup with Dallas this week than Carolina last week. This should be a close game, but I think Dallas will win and that will put the Saints just under their projected output.

Falcons: They also face a tougher offensive team this week with the Eagles compared to the Steelers last week. They will not be the bird with the word this week.
