That’s it. That’s 2024. Let’s see how I did in the final week.
Reaction to Week 18 – The Starters
First off, at QB, I said to start Jayden Daniels and Russell Wilson. In his game, Daniels ended up with 38 yards passing, 27 yards rushing, and nothing else. I was wrong to start him. Wilson got 148 yards passing, 16 yards rushing, and a TD. I was wrong to start him too. At RB, I said to start Rachaad White and J. K. Dobbins. White did not get as much play as I thought; he got nothing, so I was wrong to start him. Dobbins ended up with 63 yards rushing, 12 yards receiving, and nothing else. I was wrong to start him too. At wide out, I said to start Zay Flowers and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Flowers got hurt and ended up with only 12 yards receiving, 9 yards rushing, and nothing else beforehand. I was wrong to start him. Smith ended up with less with only 9 yards receiving, 4 yards rushing, and nothing else, so I was wrong to start him too. For the tight ends, I said to start Pat Freiermuth and Kyle Pitts. The Muth got 85 yards in the air and a TD. Finally, I was right to start somebody. Pitts, however, only got 15 yards receiving with nothing else. Back to being wrong. For the team defenses, I said to start the Falcons and the Bucs. The Falcons lost, gave up 44 points, along with nothing else. I was wrong to start them. The Bucs won, gave up 19 points, along with 2 sacks. I was right to start them. Not the best week.
Reaction to Week 18 – The Sitters
At QB, I said to sit Aaron Rodgers and Kyler Murray. In his game Rodgers got 274 yards passing, 4 TDs, and a pick. I was wrong to sit him. Murray ended up with 242 yards passing, 22 yards rushing, and 4 TDs. I was very wrong to sit him too. Meanwhile, at RB, I said to sit Tyrone Tracey, Jr. and De’Vone Achane. Tracey ended up with 59 yards rushing, 7 yards receiving, and nothing else. I was right to sit him. Achane got 121 yards rushing and a TD. I was wrong to sit him. For the wide outs, I said to sit Davante Adams and Marvin Harrison, Jr. Adams got 88 yards receiving and a TD. I was wrong to sit him. Harrison had 63 yards receiving and a TD too, thereby making me wrong to sit him too. For the tight ends, I said to sit Tucker Kraft and Dalton Schultz. Kraft ended up with 36 yards receiving and nothing else making me right to sit him. Schultz got only 29 yards receiving and nothing else, so I was right to sit him too. For the team defenses, I said to sit the Texans and the Vikings. The Texans won, gave up only 14 points, along with 2 sacks, a fumble recovery, and a defensive score. I was wrong to sit them. The Vikings lost, gave up 31 points, along with 2 picks, and 2 sacks. I was right to sit them. Not great, but better than the starters.
Alright, let’s look at how I did for the year. There were 35 picks, start and sit, for each of the 5 listed categories.
For the starters, at QB, I was right 17 times and wrong 18; at RB, I was right 18 times and wrong 17; at WR, I was right 8 times, wrong 25 times, and 2 pushes; at TE, I was right 16 times, wrong 18 times, and 1 push; and for the team defenses, I was right 23 times, wrong 11 times, and 1 push.
For the sitters, at QB, I was right 16 times, wrong 18 times, and 1 push; at RB, I was right 20 times, wrong 10 times, and 5 pushes; at WR, I was right 17 times, wrong 13 times, and 5 pushes; at TE, I was right 28 times, wrong 6 times, and 1 push; and for the team defenses, I was right 15 times, wrong 17 times, and 3 pushes.
Collectively, for the starters, of the 175 picks, I was right 82 times, wrong 89 times and 4 pushes. And for the sitters, of the 175 picks, I was right 96 times, wrong 64 times, and 15 pushes. And for all the starters and sitters combined for the weekend games, of the 350 picks, I was right 178 times, wrong 153 times, along with 19 pushes.
With the weekend games combined with the early games, there were 221 picks for the start side. And for these 221, I was right 106 times, wrong 111 times, and 4 pushes. And for the sit side, there were 210 total picks, and for these, I was right 116 times, wrong 78 times, along with 16 pushes.
So, in total, of the 431 picks I made this year, I was right 222 times for a 51.5%, wrong 189 times for a 43.8%, and 20 pushes for a 4.6%. I think I can do better. I mean, I should do better. Could you do better? Will 2025 be my year? Will 2025 be your year? Is it the hope that kills you or keeps you going?
