Reaction to Week 17: Okay, did I pop a squat for the right squatters? Let’s see. First of all, at QB, I said to sit Jake Browning and Tua. In his game, Tua had 237 yards passing, 14 yards rushing, along with 2 picks and 2 TDs. Just below, so I was right to sit him. Browning had 197 yards passing, 32 yards rushing, and 2 TDs. Just over, so I was wrong to sit him. For RBs, I said to sit James Cook and Derrick Henry. Cook had 48 yards and nothing else. I was right to sit him. Henry had 42 yards and nothing else, so I was right to sit him too. For wideouts, I said to sit Calvin Ridley and Chris Godwin. Ridley ended up with 39 yards and nothing else making me right to sit him, while Godwin had 81 yards and a TD, thereby putting me back on the wrong side. For TEs, I said to sit Evan Engram and Dalton Schultz. Engram had 60 yards and nothing else putting me back on the being right ways, while Schultz had 19 yards and nothing else thereby extending my rightness. For team defenses, I said to sit the Saints and the Patriots. The Saints won, gave up 13 points, along with 2 picks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 sacks. I was wrong to sit them. The Patriots lost, gave up 27 points, along with 1 sack and 1 pick. I was right to sit them.
Week 18 brings us to the final week of the season. Seems like only yesterday we all had hope we could win our league. Ah, hope. You know what they say about hope across the pond? Let’s see who we should consider sitting this last week.
QB:
Baker Mayfield: He had one of his worst games a few weeks ago against Carolina who are the #1 pass D in yards allowed and are top 10 in passing TDs allowed.
Derek Carr: He also had a poor game his last time against a division rival in Atlanta. I wouldn’t rely on him to be the Saints hero bringing them into a playoff run.
RB:
Jonathan Taylor: He is going up against the Texans, who have the 2nd best ypc and have given up the 3rd fewest rushing yards so far. Not a risk worth taking this last week.
Breece Hall: He is up against the Pats who have the best ypc allowed and the 2nd fewest rushing yards allowed this year. Also, he got shut down by them earlier this year too. So, there is that.
WR:
Chargers WRs: All of them, even Kenan Allen if he plays. Stick is just not that good and, even if they sit some of them, the KC defense is pretty solid.
Terry McLaurin: He was shut down by the Cowboys solid pass D the last time these 2 teams played. Better hope for some garbage play from him via Howell after Dallas goes up big early.
TE:
Evan Engram: I sat him last week, and I will sit him this week. He was shut down by the Titans the last time these 2 teams played. Statistically, the Titans have been the best against the position. Expect similar outputs this week.
Travis Kelce: You are still gonna play him, aren’t you? If possible, bench him. With nothing to play for, except 16 yards to break the 1,000 yard mark, I do not expect him to play a full game. Better hope a TD comes in those 16 yards before he is taken out of the game.
Defense:
LA Rams: They are solid and the 49ers are resting some of their starters, but the Rams position is also set. I still think the 9ers will handle them.
Steelers: The Ravens will also be resting starters, but they still have a solid D and would love to beat the Steelers and help their rivals be all but eliminated from playoff contention.
