Reaction to Week 17: In last week’s Thursday and Saturday games, I said to sit Joe Flacco and Tony Pollard. Well, Flacco did remarkably well. I think he might be better than he ever was, statistically speaking of course. He ended up with 309 yards passing, 3 TDs, and a pick. I was wrong to sit him. Pollard had 49 yards rushing and nothing else, so I was right to sit him. Then, I said to start David Njoku. I was right to start him, even though he had a lost fumble since he ended up with 134 receiving yards. Finally, I said to start both the Jets and the Browns team defenses. The Browns won, gave up 20 points, had a defensive score along with 2 sacks, a fumble recovery, and a pick. I was right to start them. The Jets lost, gave up 37 points, but they also had a defensive score along with a sack, a pick and 2 fumble recoveries. With the defensive score, it is close. Let’s end it with a push.
Well, that is it for my start/sit Thursday/early game edition for the year. Let’s see how I did this year for these games.
For QBs, I said to start one 3 times all year, and I was right all 3 times. I then said to sit one 6 times all year – I was right 2 of these times, wrong 3 times, and a push once.
For RBs, I said to start one 10 times all year, and I was right 4 times, wrong 5 times, and one push. I then said to sit one 13 times all year – I was right 8 of these times and wrong for the other 5.
For WRs, I said to start one 9 times all year, and I was right 7 times and wrong for the other 2. And for some reason, I never said to sit any WR for any of these games at all.
For TEs, I said to start one 5 times all year, and I was right 3 times and wrong for the other 2. I then said to sit one 4 times – I was right 3 of those times and wrong the other time.
For team defenses, I said to start one 11 times, and I was right 6 times, wrong 3, and a push for the remaining 2. I then said to sit one 7 times – I was right 4 of those times, wrong for 2, and one push.
Finally, for the kickers, I said to start one 6 times, and I was right 4 of the times and wrong for the other 2. I did not denote sitting any keeper for any of these games this year.
Collectively, first of all, at QB I was right 5 out of 9 times, wrong 3 times, and one push. At RB, I was right 12 out of 23 times, wrong 10 times, and one push. At WR, I was right 7 out of 9 times and wrong 2 times. At TE, I was right 6 out of 9 times and wrong 3 times. For team defenses, I was right 10 out of 18 times, wrong 5 times, and 3 pushes. And for kickers, I was right 4 out of 6 times and wrong 2 times.
In summary, for those to start, I was right 27 out of 44 times, wrong 14 out of 44 times, and 3 pushes. And for those to sit, I was right 17 out of 30 times, wrong 11 out of 30 times, and 2 pushes.
So, altogether, I was right 44 out of 74 times, wrong 25 times, and had 5 pushes. I was better than not, so there is that, but I could and should be better. Looks like I have some work to do this offseason. Alright, that is it for this edition, see you in a couple of days for the Week 18 start and sit advice.
