Before we get into Week 17’s Sitters, let’s see what I got right and what I got wrong with the sitters from week 16.

QB: Lawrence had 224 yards passing with 51 yards rushing and 1 TD. These numbers are just below average making me right to sit him. I said to bench Tannehill/Willis. Well, it was Willis, and I was right since he had 99 yards passing, 43 yards rushing, 1 TD, and 2 picks. Then there is Tua who had 310 yards passing with1 TD and 3 picks. With these numbers, I was right to sit him too. Boom goes the dynamite.

RB: David Montgomery had 62 yards rushing, 22 yards receiving, and a fumble lost. I was right to sit him. I also said to sit Brian Robinson, and I was right to sit him too for he only had 58 yards rushing and no TDs. Finally, Miles Sanders had 6 yards receiving, 65 yards rushing, with no TDs and a lost fumble. I was right, right there too. Boom Boom.

WR: Cooper got more play in the Browns/Saints game than I thought he would, but I was still right to sit him for he had no TDs with only 72 yards receiving. Meanwhile, I was wrong to sit McLaurin; he let his light show. He had 77 yards receiving and a TD against San Fran. I was also wrong to sit Gallup, for while he only had 36 yards receiving, he had a TD. It was close, but I was wrong.

TE: Njoku did what I thought he would do: 14 yards and no TDs. I was right to sit him. Knox also had little yards, 38, but he got a TD making me wrong to sit him. Finally, George Kittle is on fire. He had 120 yards and 2 TDs against, on paper, one of the best teams in the league against tight ends. I was wrong to sit him.

D: The Jags got the W, held the Jets to 3 points with a fumble recovery, 1 pick and 3 sacks. This is very good. Did they get good? Did the Jets get worse? Probably both.

The Steelers D gave up 10 points, got the W and had 3 sacks and 3 picks. I was way off here, too. I am so sad about this. So, sad. (Sarcasm) Finally, the Bears got the L, gave up 35 points with 1 fumble recovery, 2 picks, and a sack. The extras made it close, but the L with the amount of points given up made me right to sit them.

Let’s see who is available to maybe consider not starting or benching this week.

QB:

Trevor Lawrence: Let us see if I am right again on this guy. He has Houston this week and the last time they played, he was bad. The Texans are in the top/bottom in passing yards allowed and tied for least amount of passing TDs allowed. These do not add for a strong Lawrence game.

Geno Smith: The Jets are in the top 5 in least passing yards allowed and are tied for the least amount of passing TDs given up too. Not a good play here, either.

Tua/Teddy: Whichever plays, do not play them this week against New England. Tua has been inconsistent, and the times Teddy played, he did not light things up.

RB:

Josh Jacobs: Be bold and bench him. If not, you better hope for a cheap TD for he will not get the yards against San Fran this week.

Najee Harris: I should have just re-typed the same words I wrote for Jacobs and just changed San Fran to Ravens.

Ezekiel Elliot: Tennessee is as good against the run as they are as bad against the pass. Not a good combo for Elliot to succeed.

WR:

Devonta Smith: The Saints are number 2 in the league in passing yards allowed, and they traditionally have held down team’s number 2 receiver, which Smith is for Philly.

Adam Thielen: The Packers are the number 3 team in least passing yards allowed, and he only had 36 yards with no TD the last time these 2 teams played. Not a good play here either.

D. K. Metcalf: The Jets are in the top 5 in least passing yards allowed and tied for the least amount of passing TDs allowed. Sauce will probably be all over him this game, especially if Lockett is still out.

TE:

Dallas Goedert: New Orleans is 3rd best in the league against tight ends so far this year. You have another option, right? Right?

Gerald Everett: With Williams and Allen back, the looks for Everett have dried up. He is just not a top option anymore.

Tennessee tight ends: Dallas is 2nd best in the league against the position. If you are stuck playing one of these guys, your team is probably not that good anyway. Good luck.

D:

The Saints D has been good this year, but they are on the road this week in Philly. It will probably be a close defensive game, but Philly should prevail. If you have to play them, hope for lots of extras to overcome the L.

The Bengals D has also been solid so far this year, but the Bills offensive is still good. This one will be close too, a little more scoring than the Saints/Eagles game, but I expect the Bills to win out. Like the Saints, better hope for some extras to overcome the L.

The Steelers D is another one that has been solid, but their lack of offensive fire power keeps them on the field too much. The last time they played the Ravens, Dobbins ran on them. Expect more of the same. And expect the Ravens to eliminate the Steelers from playoff consideration, too.
