Reaction to Week 15: On this Christmas Eve Eve, let’s see if I gave you some presents last week. First of all, I said to start Jordan Love and Geno Smith. In his game, Love had 284 yards passing, 2 TDs, and a fumble. Just over average, thereby making me right to start him. Geno didn’t play, so by the transitive property, Lock is the play. He got 208 yards passing and a TD. I was wrong to start him/them. For the RBs, I said to start Rachaad White and Najee Harris. I was way off on Harris. He ended up with negative points in my league due to his only having 33 yards rushing and a fumble. On White, he had 89 yards rushing, 50 yards receiving, and a TD. That’s more like it; I was right to start him. For the wideouts, I said to start Odell Beckham, Jr. and Cooper Kupp. Kupp got 111 yards receiving and a TD. I was right to start him. Meanwhile, Beckham had 1 catch for 14 yards and nothing else. Still better than Flowers, like I said, but still not good enough to start – obviously. For the TEs, I said to start Logan Thomas and Okonkwo. Thomas had 1 catch for 7 yards, so I was wrong to start him. Okonkwo did a little better with 36 yards, but he also had nothing else, so I was wrong to start him too. On the team defenses, I said to start the Saints and the Falcons. The Falcons only gave up 9 points, but they lost and had only 3 sacks as extras. Even with the L though, I was right to start them. The Saints got the W, held the Giants to 6 points and had 7 sacks. I was right to start them.
Week 16 brings us some broken teams, fantasy and real, broken players, and of course, some broken playoff dreams. Let’s see what’s in store regarding who is still a solid play at this time of the year.
QB:
Baker Mayfield: He is hot. Not like sexy hot, but like he is playing really well right now. Ride him. Not like really ride him, but keep playing him on your team. He has a bottom pass D in the Jaguars this week. Not like real Jaguars, just pretend ones.
Joe Flacco: Speaking of riding the hot hand. Not this again. He is going up against a porous Texans D. Do it. All the cool kids are playing him.. And by cool, I mean sweet. And by sweet, I mean cool.
RB:
D’Andre Swift: Not a whole lot out of him recently, but this week he is going up against a Giants D that is bottom 5 in most all defensive rushing categories.
Ezekiel Elliott: Zeke will be going up against a Broncos rush D that has given up the most rushing yards and has the worst ypc against them in the league. Good to great match-up here.
WR:
Calvin Ridley: No matter if Lawrence plays or not, he is going up against the 2nd worst pass D in terms of yards allowed in the Bucs. Shine like he did at the beginning of the year?
Garrett Wilson: He is going up against a Commanders D that is one of the worst against the pass. He has to do well in this game, right? Right?
TE:
Darren Waller: He returned from injury last week with 4 catches for 40 yards. He has the Eagles for his second game. A team with a secondary that has proven to be vulnerable against the pass. His numbers should be better.
Chigoziem Okonkwo: I was wrong to start him last week, but I will be right to start him this week. No TD so far this year = he is due. He is going up against a Seattle D that has only given up 3 TDs to TEs so far this year = they are due. It’s due due time.
Defense:
Colts: An above average D vs a team that just put up only 7 points against arguably the worst team in the league. Play the Colts on the road.
Panthers: Speaking of possibly the worst team in the league. Can they get back to back wins? Yep. They are good against the pass, not so much against the run. Packers are good passing, not so much running. Back to back Jack.
