Before we get into Week 16’s Sitters, let’s see what I got right and what I got wrong with the sitters from week 15
QB: Um, how in the H E double hockey sticks did Trevo do what he did against the Cowpokes? 318 yards with 4 TDs and 2 TOs. Guess I was quite wrong here. Goff had 252 yards with 1 TD and no TOs. These numbers are below average so I was right. Back to Life. Back to Reality. And well, Carr did what I thought Jones would do in that game. I guess my wires were crossed, and I should have started David Carr’s brother.
RB: I said to sit Seattle running backs, and since there was only 1 carry by a running back not named Walker, I was right to sit those guys. Meanwhile, Walker had 47 rushing and 37 receiving yards with no TDs, so I was right to sit him too. On the Texans running backs, they had a total of 51 yards rushing and 14 receiving with no TDs, so I was right to sit them too. On the 2 back teams, I was right to sit Hunt who had 24 yards rushing and 3 yards receiving, but I was wrong to sit Elliot who had 58 rushing, 13 receiving and TD, as well as A. J. Dillon who had 36 rushing and 35 receiving, and had 2 TDs.
WR: I said Lockett would do worse than Metcalf. While I was wrong here, I was right to sit Lockett for he only had 68 yards receiving with no TDs. With only 60 yards and no TDs, I was also right to sit Hopkins, too. However, while he only had 33 yards receiving, Higgins did get a TD. These numbers are probably below average, but it is the holidays so I will call it a push.
TE: That is what I am talking about. I put Gesicki back in the sit column, and he shines with 5 yards and no TDs. That’s my boy. I was also right to sit Everett for he had 42 yards with no TDs, as well as Engram who had a few more yards, 62, but also no TDs either. Broom me baby.
D: The Texans got the L, gave up 30 points, over 500 yards in total offense, and had 2 fumble recoveries and 2 sacks. Collectively, I was right to sit them against KC. The Bears also got the L, gave up 25 points, over 400 yards in total offense, with 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery, and 2 picks. Closer with the extras, but the L puts them on the me being right to sit them side. The Ravens got the L as well, only gave up 13 points and about 300 yards in total offense with 3 sacks. If more extras or a W, then maybe. I think this is close, but it is on the I am right to sit have sit them this past week side. I guess my hunch was right.
Let’s see who is available to maybe consider not starting or benching this week.
QB:
Trevor Lawrence: Maybe I was off a week regarding sitting him. The Jets are at the top in least yards allowed and passing TDs allowed, too. Sit him, Trust in me.
Ryan Tannehill/Malik Willis: The Texans are tied for 2nd best in least amount of passing TDs so far this year. In order for Tanny, or Willis as it looks more and more like will happen, to do well, he needs TDs. Not gonna happen, for either QB.
Tua: He has been wildly inconsistent to say the least. Actually, that is not saying the least. The least would be saying nothing at all. Anyway, he is going up against the Packers who are 2nd in least amount of passing yards allowed. Hope you do not need him this week.
RB:
Miles Sanders: The Cowboys are in the bottom in rushing yards allowed, but they have only given up 7 rushing TDs all year. Sanders doesn’t get the amount of carries to make up for this. Not a risk I would take.
Brian Robinson: He has a great ypc and has been productive, but Washington insists on running Gibson and Samuel too many times per game. Combine this with San Fran’s D, not gonna do it. Not at this juncture.
David Montgomery: Not only is he going up against a formidable opponent in Buffalo, but Herbert is back to steal away some of his carries too. Nope.
WR:
Terry McLaurin: Like Robinson, I am just not trusting this offense against the 49er D. No soup for him either.
Michael Gallup: He is going up against a Philly team that has given up the 2nd least amount of passing yards so far this season. Maybe he will get a TD. Not worth the risk for me.
Amari Cooper: It is supposed to be nasty weather in that game, nothing that excites a passing game. Add that to the fact New Orleans is one of the better D’s in the league. You are bound to have a better matchup option than him.
TE:
David Njoku: Did you just read what I wrote about Cooper? It applies to Njoku, too. New Orleans is actually better against the tight end than wide-outs, so he is a worse option than Cooper.
Dawson Knox: He has had 2 good games in a row. Games we expected from him all year. Well, it is now his turn to go back to life, back to reality, and he will do so against Da Bears.
George Kittle: He goes from playing against one of the worst teams against tight ends to one of the best in Washington. Hope you have platoon options here, and their matchup is a better one than his.
D:
Put the Steelers D back on the bench. Derek Carr has weirdly played well against them in his career. I think Tomlin’s streak of never having a losing season with Pittsburgh ends here.
The Bears opened as 9 and a half point underdogs to Buffalo at home. That is not a good sign that this will turn out well for them.
The Jags are hot, but they have a solid D coming against them in the Jets this week. Let us call this one the sit hunch of the week. A let down game after that big game against Dallas.
