Before we get into Week 10’s Sitters, let’s see what I got right and what I got wrong with the sitters from week 9.
QB: I thought I was going to be wrong about Mills, but then reality set in and he proved I was right to sit him. Goff had 2 TDs, but he had an Int and only 137 yards passing so I was right to sit him too. A little over 200 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT makes me right to sit Dalton. Clean sweep.
RB: With 6 yards receiving and 44 yards rushing and no TDs, I was right about sitting Brian Robinson. And what did I say about Fournette? Oh yeah, sit him. I hope you listened to me since he had hardly any yards and no TDs. Then there was Edwards-Helaire whose stats were just as piddly as Fournette’s. I was right here too. Thus another clean sweep.
WR: Did you listen to me about Devonta Smith? I hope so. With only 22 yards receiving and no TDs, I was right to sit him. Godwin also had no TDs, but he had more yards than Smith. He had a whopping 36 yards. Ooooh. I am scared. I was right about sitting him too. Finally, I told you to sit the Jets WRs. If you chose to start Wilson, then good on ya since he showed up; he has been slightly more consistent than the others. If you chose one of the others and started them, then you should have listened to me for I was right. Since this is my game, and I can corrupt the truth how I want, I say I was right since it has not been determined who we can trust and not all showed up. You know what that means? It is a threesome. Another clean sweep.
TE: Our ole start/sit stand bye Gesicki made the sit list last week, and well, I was right to put him there since he had no TDs and a monstrous 3 yards receiving. Hunter Henry led his team in receiving with 50 yards, which is good for him, but not good to make a start list. So, I say I was right not to start him, but if you did, you at least got a little morsel from him. Then there is Hock who started with a new team. Well, no acclimation seemed to be needed for he got 70 yards, and for this group of tight ends, that is considered above average, which makes me, unfortunately, wrong. Being right for so long was nice.
D: Back to being right, the Bears lost, gave up 35 points, almost 400 yards and no extra stuff. Yep, I was right. I was also right to bench the Titans who also lost and gave up some serious yards. I was wrong about the Pats-Colts game being close, but I was right not to start the Colts who gave up 26 points and lost the game. They made it close with 4 sacks and a fumble recovery, but it ended up being below average so I was right.
I was awesome last week. Let’s see if the ones for this next week are just as smart. Let’s see who is available to maybe consider not starting or benching this week regardless.
QB:
The Broncos have given up the least amount of passing yards and passing TDs so far this year. With that in mind, Tannehill is an even worse play than he normally is.
I have told you once before, do not be afraid to bench Aaron Rodgers. Things are just not the same in Green Bay and this week they have a stout Cowboy D.
You may be tempted to play Daniel Jones since he is playing the Texans who have only one win. Do not be fooled. The Texans have been better against the pass than the run.
RB:
All Broncos running backs. Tennessee is 2nd in rushing yards allowed and has only given up 2 rushing TDs all year. Since none of the Broncos backs have established themselves, none of them should be trusted to break this barrier.
All Cardinals running backs not named Kyler Murray. Since neither back is a top 10 back, I can’t see either one breaking down the Rams who have given up the 3rd least amount of rushing yards and only 4 rushing TDs so far this year.
Miles Sanders. The last time the Eagles played Washington, he had 46 yards rushing with no TDs. Washington has only given up 4 rushing TDs so far this year. Like in Arizona, if there will be rushing yards, it will be by the QB.
WR:
Terry McLaurin. It is probably safe to say that you should bench all number one WRs from a team that are not top 5, and maybe even them (see Jefferson), when they play the Eagles.
Allen Lazard. As noted earlier, the Cowboys are at the top in defense against the pass. Lazard has done well recently, but this points to a drop off game.
Chris Godwin. I was right sitting him last week, and I think he needs to stay on the bench. The Seattle D has played well recently and the Tampa offense has been sluggish. Maybe playing in Germany will help, but I wouldn’t bet my schnitzel on it.
TE:
Pat Freiermuth is going up against a Saints team that is best in the league against tight ends so far this year. This is a good sit week for him if you can.
Hockenson is going up against a team that has not allowed a touchdown to a tight end all year. Why would I want to go up against those odds? Maybe they are due. Maybe they are not. I hope you also have another option.
What is a start sit week without Gesicki. This week, like most, he makes the sit article. Why you ask? Why not I say.
D:
The Elven Brownies have been solid so far this year on D, but they are going up against Tua and a high octane and clicking offense. This could breed some trouble for them this week.
Tampa also has had a solid D so far this year, but Geno has some magic and the Seattle offense is also playing well.
Like the others, the Packers D has been solid, but they are going up against a Cowboys offense that had a statistically tremendous game the last time out. You know it can’t be good when you are a 4 and a half point dog at home.
