Football is back baby. And so is the rooster. Hopefully better than ever.
It feels like it has been forever, and it feels like the season just ended yesterday.
Like last year, I will pick 3 or 4, or whatever I feel like doing, random persons to start or sit for both the early games, Thursday and Friday for week 1 for example, and then later in the week I will pick 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 2 WRS, 2 TEs, and 2 Defenses to start and to sit for the Sunday and Monday games. These prognostications will be followed the next week with a recap on how I did before I then jump into that week.
On early games last year, I was right 59% of the time, wrong about 34%, and a push for the rest. And of the times I was right, I did best with WR, TE, and Defenses, and when I was wrong, I was wrong mostly about RBs. With this all being laid out, let’s now get into this year and make these stats go up.
This year’s week 1 early games pit the Ravens against the Chiefs and the Packers against the Eagles. All 4 of these teams have some solid fantasy options. It is week 1 so I like to play it safe and play those who have proven themselves. However, if you have options, in a good or bad way, here are some of my thoughts.
Of the 4 QBs, all are startable, but if I had to bench one, it would be Love. I know. I know. I know. The Eagles pass D was terrible last year, but they made some major upgrades so I guess this is just one of those hunches. Of the 4 starting RBs, I’d bench Jacobs. This one is not a hunch. While the Eagles pass D was questionable, their rush D was not. Combined this with Jacobs being new to the Pack, I am just not sure yet. Of the top WRs from each team, I would sit both Flowers from the Ravens and Rice from the Chiefs. Both defenses were in the top 10 against the pass, and, unfortunately, I am not sure if there will be much of a drop off for either team here this year. Finally, while all four of these teams have good offenses, each one also has/will have a good defense too. Combining these thoughts means I say each team’s kicker gets plenty of chances, FG chances specifically. Feel confident to play any of these 4 kickers.
