So, 2 weeks have passed and you have some players who are not performing like all, or some of us, thought they should. Why is the question. Are they hurt/banged up? Have personnel changes affected them? Or, are they just not peforming?

Here, and now, is when you need patience. There are 18 weeks for some of us, and a few less for those of you who do playoffs.

Let’s look at your team. Is your team considered poor? If so, then look at your waiver wire. Is there somebody out there who actually is, and was projected higher than your no-show? Is there someone out there who has become consistent the first 2 weeks, i.e. apparently dependable? If either of these hold true, patience may not be your virtue and you might need to pull the trigger.

However, let me clear my throat and back up a little bit. Are you in a keeper league or has this player in question traditionally performed and performed well, and/or there are no major red flags or questions? If yes, then hold on, let’s see if you can ride this out until after week 5 (another time, another article). You, hopefully, have a little bit of depth on the roster to fill the gap to ride it out. This person has proven themself, and you need to be patient. Also, is the person in question a highly ranked rookie that has not performed? Especially put on the cutting breaks here. They, and their coaches, usually need time to acclimate and work their way into the matter.

In summary: If your team is good – hold the line and be patient. If your team is okay – hold the line and be patient. If your team is poor – hold the line and be patient, or maybe make a move since you are not doing well anyway.

Clear as mud? Simply put, 2 weeks is not a lot data to work with, so BE PATIENT.
