Cut or Keep? 10/7/22
By Lamar

Have a player on your team you are thinking about cutting? If so, you are in the right place where we decide to cut or keep?
* The advice below only considers projected player output for this season. Keeper leagues should consider potential beyond this season before cutting.

Gabe Davis WR Buffalo Bills

Davis has been hindered by injuries to start the season, so it is difficult to evaluate his role in the 2022 Bills offense. QB Josh Allen likes to spread the ball around so it can be difficult to depend on any Bills pass catcher beyond WR Stefon Diggs. The hope before the season started was that Davis would become the WR2 on one of the most prolific offenses this season. At this point Davis is really boom or bust, so it is tough to start him until he has a show me game. Honestly I think he will remain boom or bust for the rest of the season because Allen likes to incorporate so many pass catchers. If you think there is a legit WR2 on your wire then make the move. Until then keep Davis around, he can be useful once we get into bye weeks.

David Montgomery RB Chicago Bears

Montgomery is another player that has been dealing with lingering injuries that have cut into his production this season. Another factor hurting his numbers is that the preseason RB2 for the Bears (Khalil Herbert) has looked like the better player this year. Couple that with the fact that QB Justin Fields appears to have taken a step back as a passer and you have a recipe for consistently poor performance. It will be tough to trust the Bears offense all season long. If I had to have one RB for the Bears right now I would rather it be Herbert. It’s time to cut David Montgomery.

Dalton Schultz TE Dallas Cowboys

Schultz has been collateral damage from the QB Dak Prescott injury, which explains his lack of production. QB Cooper Rush has been outstanding as a fill-in, doing enough to win, but in no way has the Cowboys offense lived up to expectations. With Dak on schedule to be back soon, the hope is that he can quickly get this offense back on track and Schultz along with it. The Cowboys TE is a hold right now, but I would see what else is on the waiver wire to start until Dak returns.
